The real subject

The PzKpfw III was a German medium tank of the Second World War and its chassis saw a whole series of modifications; the drive sprocket changed during production, which is why the range offers several versions. The drive sprocket is the toothed wheel at the front of the suspension that engages the track and drives it. On a finished model it is clearly visible from the side, so it pays to put some work into it.

What the set contains

A replacement drive sprocket in 1:35 scale supplied broken down into individual parts, which are joined together before fitting according to the manufacturer's instructions. The set carries the designation Set A; under further numbers the range also offers the Set B version and a broken-down idler wheel, so you can put both sides of the suspension together to suit a particular version of the machine.

Building tips

The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on them. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little off the part and sand the remainder carefully so that you do not touch the teeth of the ring. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Assemble and paint the sprocket separately and fit it onto the model only at the end, otherwise the space behind it is hard to reach. Before you glue the sprocket permanently, check that the teeth line up with the openings in the track; a shift of one tooth is visible on a finished model.
