Masking set for the Bf 109F in 1:48 scale

This self-adhesive masking set by the Czech manufacturer Art Scale is pre-cut to the shape of the individual frames of the glazing, so cutting strips from crepe tape and guessing shapes falls away. The masks are peeled off their backing, applied to the clear part and painted over. The designation one-sided means the single-sided version, that is a set for masking from the outside of the glazing. The manufacturer also offers a double-sided version for the same model, which makes it possible to mask the inner side as well, so that the view out from inside stays clean. The cuts match the Bf 109F kit by Eduard in 1:48 scale.

Use

• Wash and degrease the clear part before masking, as a mask does not hold on a greasy surface.
• Lift the mask with tweezers and lay it down from one edge of the frame, so that no air bubbles form.
• Press the edges down with a toothpick or a blunt point, as that is where paint most often creeps under.
• Apply the paint in several thin coats, as a heavy coat makes a step at the edge of the mask.
• Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not after a long time.
