An injection-molded plastic kit of the American AMT brand in 1:25 scale. The release carries the designation Silent Box, which concerns the period-style treatment of the box, not the contents of the set. According to the manufacturer it is a three-in-one kit: from one box you can build a stock car, a custom or a dragster version. Optional front and rear body parts, alternative radiator grilles, two takes on the engine, a custom instrument panel, optional steering wheels and a chrome-plated chassis serve that purpose. A sheet of waterslide decals is included.
The Chevrolet Bel Air of the 1957 model year closes the famous trio of model years 1955 to 1957. It brought markedly drawn-out rear fenders, a wide grille and abundant chrome, thanks to which it became one of the most recognizable American cars of all. It was precisely these cars that were modified en masse in the 1960s both for the quarter mile and for the street, and the nickname Pepper Shaker belongs to this world of period modifications.
Choose the build variant before painting, because the interior and chassis parts differ too. Spray the body in thin coats over filler primer; with two-tone schemes paint the lighter shade first and mask the dividing line with quality modeling tape. Leave the chrome parts in their protective layer and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue or with cement for clear plastic, so that the surface is not eaten away. Prepare gloss varnish under the decals and, once it has dried, unify the surface according to the version you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
