A clear canopy for a model of the Mi-17 helicopter in 1:48 scale. A replacement where the part from the kit does not suit or has been damaged.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-17 is a twin-engine transport helicopter that follows on in development from the widespread Mi-8 series. It serves to carry people and cargo, and thanks to its undemanding operation it spread to dozens of countries in military and civilian renderings. The glazing of the cabin is among the most striking recognition features of this machine, because the crew can see out and below themselves as well.
Clear parts are the most vulnerable ones on a model. It is enough to scratch them while sanding, to fog them with the wrong glue or to have them discolor with age, and the impression of the finished work is gone. A separate clear canopy makes it possible to replace such a part without hunting down a whole kit. Which parts of the glazing it carries is shown by the manufacturer's instructions.
Hold the clear part by the edges; fingerprints come off it less easily than off plastic. Cut off excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully so as not to touch the area the crew looks through. Use a glue meant for clear parts; super glue fogs the surface. Mask the frames and spray the masked part afterward, never the other way around.
The model, masks, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
