A dipping ink from the Green Stuff World brand, a 60 ml package. The name refers to a flesh tone, so the shade is aimed above all at the skin of figures and at organic surfaces. It is worked with differently from an ordinary paint - it is applied generously and left to find for itself the place where it is to be darker.
First stir the contents of the bottle. Then load a proper dose onto the brush and flood the whole area of the part at once; this is not about a thin stroke, but about getting the ink everywhere. The moment the part is wet, it starts to run - down off the raised places, into the grooves and folds. Finally wipe the excess off the peaks and the flat surfaces. What stays in the recesses is the finished shadow. A wash, by contrast, would be placed deliberately into a chosen line only; here the ink goes over the whole surface and takes care of the distribution itself.
For figure painters who want the shadow finished before they start refining the highlights, and for anyone for whom shading small faces and hands by hand takes needlessly long.
