A photo-etched set of metal parts for detailing a model of the Vought F4U-2 Corsair night fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale. The item is set apart by the manufacturer code 491428.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought F4U-2 Corsair came about by converting a production Corsair into a night fighter aircraft. On the leading edge of the right wing it carried a radome with the radar antenna, and it was precisely because of it that one of the six machine guns of 12.7 mm was lost. The rest stayed as before: the inverted gull wing, the short and sturdy main landing gear and the two-row eighteen-cylinder R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine. Only a few dozen conversions were made, so it was a rare machine with unusual equipment.
This is a photo-etched set of metal parts for detailing a plastic model in 1:48 scale. The parts are held in the fret by thin tabs and are separated with a sharp blade. The extent of the set and the order of the steps is described in the manufacturer's instructions. The particular item is set apart by the manufacturer code 491428.
Thin metal is springy and small parts like to jump away, so it pays off to work methodically.
The set will please modelers who want to carry the fine details of a less usual version of the Corsair through to a thickness that is out of reach for plastic. It is an accessory to a kit: the model itself, the paints, the glue and the tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
