It is not a kit of the helicopter but a collection of sets that are also sold separately and that together cover the detailing of a model of the Sea King in the HAS.5 version. The Westland Sea King came about as a license-built version of the American Sikorsky S-61, which the British modified markedly and fitted with Rolls-Royce Gnome turbines. The HAS.5 version was a later anti-submarine variant of the Royal Navy with more modern search and sonar equipment and with a roomier station for the operators. The machine had a boat hull, folding main rotor blades and a folding tail section, so that it would fit into a hangar on a ship. Sea Kings served the Royal Navy for long decades and took part, among other things, in the fighting over the Falklands, where they carried out anti-submarine, transport and rescue duties.
The set is for modelers with experience of photo-etched accessories who want an elaborate interior and exterior detail alike on a model of the helicopter. The extent of the work matches a longer build, not a quick weekend project.
