A photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:32 scale intended for detailing the landing flaps of the Japanese A6M2 Zero type 21 carrier-based fighter. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory fitted to a plastic kit, thanks to which the flaps can be shown thin and usually in the extended (lowered) position.

The real subject

The A6M2 Zero type 21 is a Japanese carrier-based fighter of the beginning of the war in the Pacific. Lowered landing flaps bring the silhouette of a standing model to life and reveal their inner structure, which the photo-etched set captures faithfully.

Use and fitting

• The original plastic flaps are carefully separated from the trailing edge of the wing.
• The photo-etched parts are shaped with a bending tool along the engraved lines.
• They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount.
• Degrease the brass and prime it with a base for metal before painting.
