Marking stencils 1:32 AH-1G Cobra Late are used to spray the national insignia of the late machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set for sprayed national insignia and markings of the late AH-1G in the large scale. The edges come out sharp and the surface stays uniform, which shows at once on a matte army finish. In a large scale every inaccuracy of an outline grows along with the model.
Combat machines carried their insignia rather sparingly: the star and bars, numbers on the boom and lettering near the engine section. None of it was on a flat surface. The tail boom is a cylinder, the engine cover is faceted and the transitions between them are something a decal manages only with the help of softeners. Spraying gets round that problem, because it follows the shape regardless of curvature. Serial numbers also sit on an area edged by riveting, where a carrier film would lift.
The base has to be completely cured, otherwise the edge will tear. Lower the pressure and hold the nozzle further from the surface, so that the paint does not get under the edge of the stencil. For light insignia on a dark base a light white undercoat has proved itself. Add the weathering at the very end. Once the stencil is laid on, run a blunt wooden stick over the edges again, so that they adhere in the recesses as well.
Check against period photographs which lettering your particular machine actually carried.
