Wheels of the early production series for the Avro Lancaster in 1:32 scale with weighted tires. A universally conceived set from the Armory brand for building the British heavy bomber.

A wheel set from the Armory brand intended for building the four-engine bomber Avro Lancaster in the large 1:32 scale. The designation of the product places it with the early production of the machine and describes it as universal, that is not tied to a single specific kit. The tires are made weighted, with a seating and a widening of the side at the ground.
The Lancaster came about by reworking the unsuccessful twin-engine Manchester to four Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines and became the backbone of the night bombing campaign of the Royal Air Force. It carried a voluminous bomb bay, thanks to which it could take even the largest British ordnance of the time, and it became famous among other things for the raid on the German dams. Its weight told on the main wheels considerably, and that is precisely why a weighted tire looks so convincing on a model.
In 1:32 scale every edge of a finished model is looked at from close up. The wheel from the box tends to be split into two halves and the seam after gluing runs straight across the tread, which is hard to hide. A replacement wheel gets around this problem and moreover holds a circular cross section. Before fitting, check the alignment with the landing gear leg and let the flattening point vertically downward.
