A self-adhesive masking set in 1:32 scale for the plastic model of the North American B-25J Mitchell medium twin-engine bomber. It is not a kit or decals; it is an accessory for painting. The masks match the framing of the glazing, are stuck onto the clear part, sprayed over together with the surrounding area and lifted off once dry. The single-sided version covers the outer side of the clear parts. The masks are cut for the HK Models kit.
The B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber with twin vertical tail surfaces, manned by a multi-member crew. The J version was the most numerously built variant of the whole family. Unlike single-engine fighters, this type has glazing in several places on the airframe, the pilots cockpit, the side windows and the gun positions, so masking takes considerably more time than on a small aircraft. In 1:32 scale it is also a large model, on which every imprecise frame edge shows at first glance.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry. Lift the masks out with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and seat them one at a time rather than all at once; on a model with several glazed assemblies it pays to work in groups and to keep checking that no pane has been left uncovered. Press each mask down with a wooden stick, above all around the perimeter. Where the shape needs finishing, run a fresh blade lightly along the edge of the frame. Spray thin coats with enough delay between them; with one heavy coat the paint runs under the edge. The usual order is the interior shade and, once dry, the exterior camouflage. Lift the masks shortly after drying, pulling at an angle along the surface.
The box holds the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
