A desert and dry setting calls for a lighter tone, and that is what NATO Sand FS30277 offers, a water-based acrylic paint from the Lifecolor range.
Responsibility details are not available.
A three-color pattern with a subdued green works in a temperate zone, but in the desert it gives a vehicle away for miles. That is why a light sand scale belongs to the same system, and NATO Sand FS30277 falls into it. It is a water-based acrylic paint with the number of the American federal chart in its name.
From the British desert tradition to numbers
Sand shades on ground vehicles are nothing new. The British worked with them during the war and designated them by names such as Light Stone or Portland Stone with a sequence number. The modern approach goes another way: a color gets a chart number and the name is merely descriptive. The result is related, though, because the physics of desert light has not changed and the shades complement one another. Other manufacturers also list the same number under names such as Sand or Sand Brown, which is handy when you need to compare a shade.
Modelers of vehicles deployed in dry regions and everyone looking for a neutral sand tone with neither a pink nor a yellow bias, one on which dust effects hold well.
