The real subject

The Bf 109 G-10 belongs among the late versions of the most widespread German fighter aircraft of the Second World War. In 1:32 scale it is a respectable model on which every detail stands out. What decides the final impression, though, is above all the cockpit canopy: a modeler spots a frame sprayed freehand at first glance, and it spoils even carefully done work on the rest of the machine.

What the masking set solves

The set brings pre-shaped masks cut for Revell kits in 1:32 scale. The In and Out designation refers to masking from the inner as well as the outer side, so the frame comes out sharp on both sides of the glazing. The tedious cutting of strips of adhesive tape and tracing the glazing frames with the point of a scalpel directly on the part fall away. The exact list of elements is given on the packaging.

How to use the masks

• The masks are applied to a clean and degreased part before spraying, not onto finished paint.
• Lift the elements off the sheet with tweezers or the point of a scalpel, so as not to stretch them with your fingers.
• Press the edges down carefully once applied, otherwise paint gets under them.
• Apply the paint in several light coats; a heavy coat forms a ridge at the edge of the mask.
• Lift the mask off shortly after the paint has flashed off, while the coat has not yet thickened and started to tear.
• Lift it slowly and at a sharp angle back over itself, so that the edge of the paint does not peel away with the mask.
