Photo-etched aslant ship railings for stairs at 45 degrees in 1:700 scale from Aber. A metal accessory for detailing the decks of ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a photo-etched metal set in 1:700 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It holds railings with the handrails running at a slant, matching stairs and connecting ladders at 45 degrees. It is not a model of a ship but a detail accessory for completing the deck fittings.
In 1:700 scale railings are among the details that decide the overall impression of a model. While straight runs can be dealt with by ordinary deck railings, stairs and sloping transitions between decks call for railings with the handrails running at an angle. Etched metal a few tenths of a millimeter thick can render this structure faithfully in scale, which a plastic casting cannot.
Nip the parts out with a sharp scalpel on a hard mat and sand away the remains of the tabs so that no sharp burrs are left. Try the railings dry and shorten them to the length of the stairs if needed. Glue them with the smallest amount of cyanoacrylate glue, ideally with a toothpick, so that the glue does not run between the stanchions. Spray the metal with a base coat for metals first and lay the paint on thinly, otherwise the fine stanchions will clog up.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
