An Eduard masking set in 1:32 scale for a model of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 fighter. The items are cut to finished shapes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 is among the aerodynamically cleanest forms of the whole Bf 109 family. The F series was given an aerodynamically cleaned-up nose, rounded wingtips and a horizontal tail surface without external struts, which tells it from the older versions at first glance. The F-4 version carried two machine guns above the engine and a cannon firing through the propeller hub. In the large 1:32 scale the shape of the cockpit and the layout of its framing come into their own.
A masking sheet in 1:32 scale. The items come cut to finished shapes in self-adhesive material from the factory and are applied according to a diagram, which is part of the package. The set is shaped for a particular kit; there are other masking sets for the Bf 109F-4 in this scale with a different part number, so go by the part number when ordering.
Wash the glazing first and let it dry, so that the mask will hold. Transfer the item with tweezers, set it in place according to the diagram and press the edge down with a toothpick. Spray in thin coats. The cockpit framing of Messerschmitt fighters is heavily subdivided, so allow time for fitting the masks and work one item at a time. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch: lift a corner with a sharp point and pull it away at an angle to the edge of the part.
For a modeler who is building the Bf 109F-4 in 1:32 scale and wants the cockpit frames straight and crisply bounded. The package contains masking sheets as listed by the manufacturer; paints, thinner and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
