The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is an American light carrier attack aircraft with a delta wing. It came about as a deliberately small and simple machine, so it managed without a folding wing and fitted onto a carrier's elevator as it was. The A-4KU version and the two-seat TA-4KU were delivered to Kuwait; later the Brazilian Navy bought them and operated them from the deck of its own carrier. Machines that already had one period of service abroad behind them thus flew in Brazilian colors.
The set contains painting masks for the insignia and numbers in 1:32 scale, that is, for the elements otherwise applied as decals. A sprayed marking has no glossy carrier film and no edge that would lift away at the edge of a panel, and it takes matte finishes better. The extent of the sheet and the exact placement of the individual masks are described in the manufacturer's instructions. Before spraying, lay the masks on dry and compare them with the model, because the shape of the parts differs between kits.
The order is always the same: first the base shade, which you let cure thoroughly, and only then lay the mask on and press its edges down. Apply the paint in several thin layers, so that it does not run under the edge. Take the mask off while the finish is fresh. With the numerals and small insignia, tweezers with a fine tip and good light help, so that an element sits exactly where it belongs.
The set will please builders who want the Brazilian naval markings sprayed rather than assembled from decals. The package contains masks; paints, glue and the kit itself are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
