An injection-molded plastic kit of the Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog light observation and liaison aircraft in 1:32 scale from Roden. The model is built from injection-molded plastic and is meant to be glued and painted.
The Cessna L-19, later redesignated O-1, Bird Dog was a two-seat high-wing liaison and observation aircraft derived from the civil Cessna 170. It served the US Army and the Marine Corps for artillery observation and fire direction as well as for forward air control (FAC). It was used above all in the Korean War and the Vietnam War; the tandem seating and the extensive cabin glazing for a good field of view are characteristic.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin liquid cement for plastic. The extensive cabin glazing deserves careful masking of the frames; lay down a primer before painting and apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Bring out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
