About product

Masking set 1:32 - de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI, machine HX922

This is an accessory for a kit, not a model of an aircraft. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks intended for one particular machine with the marking HX922: otherwise identical sets exist for further machines of the same type, and it is precisely the marking of the machine that tells them apart. So before ordering, check which scheme you want to build.

The masks are cut to shape, so there is no need to cut strips from masking tape, which takes a lot of time at the large 1:32 scale. The edges come out straight and without steps, and paint does not seep under a mask that has been pressed down well.

The real subject

The de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI was the fighter-bomber version of the British twin-engine aircraft with a largely wooden airframe. It was powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Merlin V-12 engines, and the crew consisted of two men sitting side by side in the forward part of the fuselage. It is precisely the divided cockpit glazing and the large areas of the fuselage that make masking one of the more laborious parts of building this type.

Usage tips

Wash the surface before masking in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry out thoroughly. Transfer the masks with tweezers and press them down with a toothpick, especially in the corners. With masks for markings it pays to stick them onto a surface sealed with a thin layer of gloss varnish and to spray over the edge with the color of the base first: any seepage then does not show on the color of the design. Spray perpendicularly and in several light coats. Lift the masks off while the paint has only just set, in a slanting pull. Count on a single use.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the Mosquito FB Mk.VI in 1:32 scale
  • Modelers who want to build precisely the machine with the marking HX922
  • Those who do not feel like cutting masks from tape by hand
  • Competition modelers, whose masking is judged for cleanliness

The set contains masking templates only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

It is not. It is a set of masking templates for a kit in 1:32 scale that has already been bought. The model is not part of the package.

In the marking of the machine. This variant is cut for machine HX922, while other sets cover other markings of the same type.

With tweezers and a slanting pull, while the paint has only just set. On fully cured paint the risk of tearing the edge grows.

Count on a single use. Once lifted off it loses both its tack and its shape.
