Douglas A-20J/K Havoc SPACE 1:32, Eduard 3D decals

A set from the SPACE line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard, made for the interior of the American Havoc attack aircraft in the large 1:32 scale. The decals have a raised relief, so the instruments and controls do not look like a drawing on a flat base. In 1:32 scale the cockpit is clearly visible once the build is complete, and that is why it pays to give it more than just a dry brush.

The real subject

The A-20 Havoc was an American twin-engine attack and bomber aircraft with a tricycle landing gear and a high-set pilot's cockpit. The A-20J and A-20K versions differed from the attack renditions in having a glazed nose in which the bombardier worked. Machines with this fit generally flew at the head of formations and guided the groups behind them, which dropped their bombs at a signal. The type entered the inventory of further Allied states as well.

Application

Finish the base, polish it and rid it of grease. Separate the elements with a pointed blade and move them with tweezers with fine jaws. Lay them into a drop of PVA white glue, check the position against the frame and only then press them down with a soft tool from the center outwards. Only the backing paper is moistened; a decal softener and a setting solution do not belong here. A large cockpit in 1:32 is more comfortable to fit out than a small scale, yet it still holds that the forward part of the interior is better finished before the fuselage is closed.
