A model of the light fighter F-5N/E Tiger II in the execution of the navy of the United States, 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Northrop F-5 Tiger II is a light supersonic fighter with a pair of turbojet engines, a slender fuselage and a small wing. It came about as a simple and cheap machine that is easy to maintain, and it is precisely its small dimensions and agility that made it an ideal opponent for training. In the navy of the United States the F-5 therefore does not fly as a combat machine but as a sparring partner: it imitates a small and nimble foreign aircraft with which crews learn to conduct air combat. Machines in this role tend to be conspicuously camouflaged, so that they can be made out in the airspace.
The set brings the F-5N/E aircraft in 1:32 scale, that is, in the large format in which even the small items around the cockpit, the wheel bays and the air intakes will stand out. Go by the instructions enclosed for the procedure of the build, the shades recommended and the placement of the lettering.
In a large scale it pays to devote time to the preparation: rid the mating surfaces of surplus material, sand the joints down after gluing and mark the sanded place again, as the division of the surface will otherwise disappear. Wash and degrease the model before painting. Varied camouflage transitions on a small aircraft come across better sprayed over a soft mask than over tape stuck down hard, and always lay a mask on before spraying. Keep the wear moderate, as training machines tend to be well kept.
For modelers who like Cold War aircraft in a large scale and want a model with a striking camouflage. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
