1:32 F4U-1 engine is a resin add-on set from Eduard with an engine for the model of the F4U-1 Corsair fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft, but an accessory for one.

This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard replaces the engine from the box with a finely cast resin substitute. It is neither a model of an aircraft nor its main part — it is an accessory that is fitted into a part-built Corsair kit in 1:32 scale. A resin casting manages a fineness that an injection mold cannot reach: the cylinder finning, the pushrods, the wiring and the exhaust pipes are markedly sharper in this technology than on a plastic part.
The Vought F4U-1 Corsair was an American carrier fighter with a characteristic cranked wing in the shape of an inverted gull. It was powered by a large air-cooled eighteen-cylinder twin-row radial engine, one of the most powerful piston aircraft engines of its day, together with a large propeller. It was precisely the size of the engine and the need for enough propeller clearance that lay behind the unusual shape of the wing. On the Corsair the engine is the visually dominant element: with the cowlings off it fills the whole nose, and in 1:32 scale its detail shows at first glance.
First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release residue is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers, and sand the remnants with respiratory protection — resin dust does not belong in the lungs. They are bonded with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate; cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Test everything dry before gluing and check that the engine seats inside the cowling. Apply the primer thinly, then bring the engine out with a dry brush and a fine wash into the recesses; the wiring and the plumbing come out well in a contrasting shade.
The set is an accessory for a kit. It does not contain the model of the aircraft, paints or glue.
