1:32 Focke-Wulf FW-190 A8/R2 Sturmbock

The real subject

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 was the most numerously built version of the A series. The modification listed as R2 turned it into the machine nicknamed the Sturmbock, that is, an aircraft prepared for attacks on formations of heavy bombers. In the outer parts of the wing it carried 30 mm cannons and the pilot was protected by added armor of the cockpit. The pilots of these machines attacked bomber formations from close up, so toughness was more important than agility.

What the set contains

This is an accessory to a plastic kit in 1:32 scale, not a model in its own right. The parts of accessory sets of this kind are not of polystyrene, so they do not react to ordinary glue for plastic kits; make the joints with cyanoacrylate glue and with larger surfaces a two-component one helps. You will find an overview of the parts and their placing on the model in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the surface is not cut into. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry, because a degreased surface holds the primer and the paint considerably better. Try the seating dry still before gluing: small differences in the outline of the fuselage are hard to correct once they are glued.

Who it is for

The set suits modelers who want to push the detail beyond the base kit in a large scale and are not bothered by work with a blade, sandpaper and cyanoacrylate glue. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
