The 1:35 I.J.A. Tank Destroyer Ho-Ri 2 kit from Modelcollect covers a Japanese heavy tank destroyer from the end of the war.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Modelcollect model follows a development line of the Imperial Japanese Army that was meant to give it an armored vehicle able to hit Allied tanks at long range. As the name indicates, the machine carries a twelve-centimeter gun set in a fixed superstructure, that is, with no rotating turret.
Late in the war Japan was running short of both raw materials and production capacity, so a number of promising designs never left the paper. Ho-Ri was one of them: it was to be built on a hull derived from the heavy tank of the day and to combine a powerful gun barrel with an armored casemate. Series production never got under way before the fighting ended, so the model captures the intended shape rather than a machine in service.
Finish the running gear and the inner walls of the casemate before you close the vehicle up. Japanese armored vehicles were commonly painted in multi-color blotches of earth and olive tones with narrow yellow stripes running between them. Keep the transitions between the blotches soft; period photographs rarely show a hard edge. At the end add dust and dried mud on the lower surfaces.
The box holds unassembled parts; the builder supplies the paints and adhesives.
