Another item of the numbered line of airmen from the brand Black Dog, this time with the sequence number six. The large 1:32 scale means the figure measures roughly twice as much as the same figure in the more common scale for aircraft models, and therefore even small things stand up on it that would be lost elsewhere.
In 1:32 a face stops being merely a suggested mass. The eye sockets, the nose and the line of the chin can be told apart on it, so the resulting figure comes across as a particular person, not as a dummy. The same goes for the hands: the fingers are large enough to bear a darker shade in the gaps and a lighter one on the backs. It is exactly this difference that makes figures in 1:32 a rewarding discipline even for modelers who have passed figures by until now.
Build the skin up from a middle flesh color, darken the recesses with a glaze and brighten the raised places two or three times. Blend the transitions out while the layers are still wet. Leave the eyes until the end and do not make them too white - a darker broken tone looks more believable. Unify the whole at the end with a matte layer and leave only the straps and buckles glossier.
