This set from the manufacturer Mettalic Details brings a pair of faithfully rendered wheels in 1:32 scale for a model of the British Gloster Gladiator fighter biplane. The parts are made of resin with the use of high-resolution 3D printing. This is not a kit of an airplane, but a separate detail accessory that replaces the wheels from the ordinary kit and raises its realism.
Cast plastic wheels tend to be simplified and they lack the fine pattern of the tire and of the hub. The resin replacement offers sharp relief of the tread, the pressings of the rim and often also the effect of a loaded tire, that is, a slightly flattened contact patch, as if the wheel were carrying the weight of the airplane. The result is a more believable landing gear on the finished model.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks and any remains of print supports off with a sharp knife or a saw, and sand the surfaces with protection of the airways. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before painting, apply a primer, unify the tire with a matte dark gray and the hub with a color according to the chosen machine.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
