This set of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale follows on from the first part of the same anniversary line. It is not a kit: to use it a matching model of the Buccaneer in the same scale is needed, and neither that nor paints are included in the package. If you are building a particular machine, compare the contents of the sheet with the source material for your model before buying.
The Blackburn Buccaneer came about as a carrier-borne strike aircraft for flight at low altitude over the sea. From that spring its typical features: an exceptionally stiff structure, a folding nose and a tail cone split into two airbrakes, a rotating bomb bay in the fuselage and a system of blowing air over the lifting surfaces, which lowered the landing speed. In the later phase of its service it passed to the Royal Air Force and specialized in strikes over the sea and in marking targets with a laser. Several machines took part in operations in the Persian Gulf in 1991, where the role of laser target marker was precisely their main task.
Kits-World prints its sheets so that a clear border stays around the motif. On gloss surfaces it does no harm, but on matte or dark camouflage the border gives the outline away even after it has been bedded into the varnish. It therefore pays to trim the film with a sharp new scalpel right up to the edge of the print, before you soak the decal, because on a dry sheet the cut is more exact and the paper does not fray. With motifs that have a light area inside them, trim only the outer outline, or you risk the decal falling apart while you move it. A thin gloss varnish laid only on the decal and its immediate surroundings helps to hold down any border that is left after application.
