It is meant for dioramas and display scenes from occupied France and from the fighting of 1944, where it is precisely the civilian level of the story that is missing alongside the military vehicles.
The French resistance movement was made up of civilians as well as former soldiers who operated underground after 1940. They devoted themselves to intelligence, to sabotage on the railways and telephone lines, to taking downed airmen across the border and, after the Normandy landings, to direct support of the advancing Allied units. The appearance of the resistance fighters matched the ordinary civilian clothing of the period: a jacket or a waistcoat, a cap, work trousers and worn shoes, complemented by weapons from the most varied sources. It is precisely this lack of uniformity that is rewarding for a modeler, because every figure can look different.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting and let them dry completely so that the layer of paint holds well. If you paint the figures, it pays off to start with a thin even undercoat, to build the face from several thinned glazes and to mix the shadows from darker skin shades rather than from pure black. Civilian fabrics have no uniform tone, so you can allow yourself faded trousers, patches and differing shades of brown and gray. The figures come out best in a simple street scene by the wall of a house, beside a bicycle or next to a parked vehicle.
