A masking set intended for a model of this German twin-engine bomber in 1:32 scale. It serves to cover the glazed areas while the frames are sprayed, so you do without the lengthy cutting of strips from adhesive tape. With a real subject whose cockpit is this busy it is a saving in time you will notice in the very first hour of work.
The Junkers Ju 88 was among the most versatile aircraft of its day – it came about as a fast bomber and a whole family of derived versions gradually grew out of it. The A-1 form stands at the beginning of production. Its unmistakable feature is the glazed front part of the fuselage, where the crew sat close side by side under a continuous greenhouse made up of many panes. In a large scale every one of those panes means a separate frame that wants a sharp edge.
Work area by area and do not hurry: press a fitted mask down with a soft tool so that the edge lies close everywhere. First apply a thin coat of the interior shade of the cockpit and only then the exterior finish – the transition then looks convincing from both sides. Uncover shortly after drying and touch in any place that has not been fully sprayed with a fine brush, while the edge is still legible.
