A plastic kit of the Italian supercar in the less usual 1:32 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The name specifies the color finish as pearl white, so it is a particular variant from the range. The extent of the package and the method of assembly are given in the enclosed instructions.
The Aventador S is a revised version of the Lamborghini flagship introduced in 2016. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12 and compared with the earlier guise it received reworked aerodynamics, a revised suspension and rear-wheel steering. The sharp wedge silhouette with its pronounced edges is one of the hallmarks of the brand and shows to advantage on a model even at a small scale.
Pearl shades are applied in layers: first an opaque base color, then a pearl intermediate coat and finally clear coat, which gives depth and protects the effect. Neither pearl nor metallic paint has covering power, so the resulting tone is set by the base, and it therefore pays to test the sequence in advance on a piece of scrap plastic. The pigment settles to the bottom, so mix the paint thoroughly and spray in thin, even passes so that no lighter streaks appear. Spraying from a great distance risks orange peel, which cannot easily be sanded out of pearl without damaging the effect.
