It is NOT an aircraft model but a detail accessory – thin 3D-printed and pre-colored parts on a decal backing paper that take the place of hand painting the instruments and of colored photo-etched parts. The set is intended for the plastic kit of the Mitsubishi J2M Raiden (the J2M3/5/6 versions) from Hasegawa in 1:32 scale.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden was a Japanese fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service of the Second World War, conceived as a fast-climbing interceptor for defense against bombers. It was powered by a strong radial engine and the Allies gave it the code name Jack.

Use and tips

• The parts are soaked off in water like a decal, but they are thicker – it is advisable to fix them with a drop of glue.
• They go onto the clean, smooth surface of the cockpit parts of a separately bought kit.
• The relief instruments can be brought out with a thin clear varnish.
• A quicker and more faithful alternative to colored photo-etched parts.
