Decals of the naval variant of the lozenge pattern in 1:32 scale from the Old Propeller brand. The printing is deliberately faded, the way cloth bleached by sea salt looked.

A sheet of decals in 1:32 scale with the naval variant of the German lozenge camouflage pattern. According to the name of the product the printing is carried out as heavily faded, with the effect of cloth bleached by sea salt. It is not a kit or a model but a decal accessory for building German naval aircraft of the First World War.
Imperial German naval aviation used its own version of the pre-printed camouflage cloth, which differed from the land variant in the make-up of its shades. Machines operating over the sea were permanently exposed to salt spray, sun and damp, so the covering faded and lost contrast markedly faster than on machines on land. A worn, sun-bleached covering is therefore typical of naval aircraft, and a believably painted model looks too clean without it. The faded printing of this sheet deals with that condition directly, with no further lightening with paint.
Large-area decals are never applied dry. Moisten the area of the model in advance with water and a drop of dish soap and slide the decal across it until it sits exactly, and only then squeeze the water out from under the film with a soft cloth or a cotton swab from the middle toward the edges. An air bubble you find once it is dry can be saved only by a prick with a fine needle and a drop of softener. On long areas work in sections and let the film rest for a while, so that it is not stretched. The base has to be glossy and fully cured.
These are decals, that is, an accessory to a kit. The kit, the paints, the clear coat and the softener are not included in the package.
