A resin detailing set in 1:32 scale from the Quickboost brand, a sub-brand of the manufacturer Aires. It contains pylons for under the wing for a model of the OV-10 aircraft in the A and C versions. The set is not a kit of the aircraft, it is an accessory to a plastic model, which you have to own separately.
What the pylons are for
Pylons are the load-bearing racks on which external stores are attached under the wing. In a kit they tend to be molded from halves or simplified in shape, so after gluing a parting line is left on the leading edge, which then has to be laboriously sanded. A resin casting is as a rule in one piece, with sharper edges and a clean profile, and it saves the work of filling.
The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco was a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a twin-boom layout, intended for observation, for directing air support and for light strike tasks. The OV-10A version was the basic American variant, the OV-10C an export configuration. A characteristic feature is the short glazed nacelle and the booms carrying the tail surfaces.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that the mold release agent is removed, otherwise neither paint nor primer will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surfaces with a file and sanding paper wet, with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue, cyanoacrylate. Try the pylon dry and mark its position on the wing, as cyanoacrylate holds at once and a correction after it has set is difficult. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the pylons separately and glue them on only after the main color coats are finished, otherwise spraying and masking around them would be harder.
This is a detailing accessory, not a kit of the aircraft. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
