The set is not a kit of the aircraft, it is an accessory to a plastic model. The manufacturer issues separate sets for the OV-10A and OV-10C versions and for the OV-10D version, so when buying, choose according to the version you are building.
What the pylons are for
A pylon is a load-bearing rack under the wing. In a kit it tends to be split into halves, so after gluing a parting line is left exactly on the leading edge, where it is hardest to sand. A resin casting is as a rule in one piece and with a sharper profile, so it saves both filling and sanding and the result is cleaner.
The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco was a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a twin-boom layout, used for observation, for directing air support and for light strike tasks. The OV-10D version was a later configuration with equipment for action in reduced visibility and with a lengthened nose, which sets it apart from the basic version on a model as well.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed, otherwise neither primer nor paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the mating surfaces with a file and sanding paper wet, with respiratory protection, as resin dust should not be inhaled. It is bonded with super glue, cyanoacrylate. Try the position of the pylon dry first and mark it, because cyanoacrylate will not allow a shift once it has set. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the pylons separately and fit them after the main color coats are finished, and you will save yourself masking around them.
