An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Curtiss P-40N Warhawk fighter in the large 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains plastic parts with finely engraved surface detail, a photo-etched fret, a decal sheet and illustrated instructions. The large scale allows a rich rendering of the cockpit and of the overall detail.
The P-40 was one of the most widely used American fighters of the early Second World War, powered by an Allison V12 engine. It became famous for the shark mouth painted on the engine cowling, which was also carried by the aircraft of the volunteer Flying Tigers. The N version was the last and lightest production variant, built in 1943 and 1944: lightening and the lowered rear fuselage behind the cockpit gave it better rearward visibility and better performance with the late, more powerful engine.
In the large scale a well-worked interior really shows, so assemble the cockpit, add the photo-etched detail and paint it before you close the fuselage halves. It is worth masking the canopy glazing and spraying the frames with an airbrush. Use liquid cement for plastic, a primer coat, and apply the decals onto a gloss coat which you then seal with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
