Photo-etched imitation of pierced steel planking (PSP) in 1:32 scale is a diorama accessory from which the taxiing surface of a field airfield under an aircraft model is put together.

This is neither a model nor a kit but a metal accessory for a diorama. The etched sheet reproduces pierced steel planking exactly, the temporary taxiing and parking surface with which field airfields were firmed up in the Second World War. The characteristic oval holes and longitudinal ribs are etched right through, so the base can be seen through them.
In 1:32 scale a single panel of matting is large and the viewer looks at it close up. A printed or molded imitation gives away that the holes are only painted; on an etched part they really do go through and the edge of the sheet is as thin as it should be. Metal also holds its shape, so a slight bow or a raised corner where a panel has lifted can be modeled.
Cut the parts off the fret with flat nippers or slice them off with a knife on a glass surface, then file the remaining tab down with a fine file so that it does not spoil the outline. Butt the panels together along their locks and glue them to a firm base with super glue or epoxy; water-based glues will not cure under metal. Spray a primer for metal as the base, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth etching. For a realistic surface a dark base works well, then a thin coat of steel or dark gray paint and finally a dry brush and rust pigments in the seams between the panels. Let soil or grass come up through the holes; that is exactly what makes the area look alive in a diorama.
