Eduard 1:32 Spitfire Mk.II seatbelts STEEL are pre-printed steel seat harness belts that hold a realistic sag thanks to the strength of the material.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holding the complete crew seat harness for models of the Spitfire Mk.II fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a model but an accessory to a kit. The STEEL designation means that the belts are etched from steel rather than brass. Steel is springier and holds its shape better, so a belt shaped into a curve stays exactly as you bend it and does not fall back flat.
The belts are pre-printed in color including the fittings and buckles, so the hardest part of the job, painting the tiny clasps, falls away. In 1:32 scale the belts are the first thing a viewer notices in an open cockpit, and a plastic or paper substitute looks flat there. Steel etching also takes repeated bending without cracking, which is always a risk with brass.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers, as they are very small. Do the shaping in stages: first roll the belt around a round tool and only then tune the natural sag, as if it were lying loosely across the seat. Glue with the smallest possible amount of cyanoacrylate, since any excess would damage the printing and leave a white bloom. Do not use solvent-based paints or aggressive clear coats on printed belts. A fine wash is possible if it is a water-thinnable product, and then only very sparingly.
The set holds photo-etched parts only. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
