A reworked cabin set for the Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:32 scale, drawn for the Revell kit. Color panels, instruments and belts in one package.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A appeared over the Channel, British fighters lost their advantage in altitude overnight. The solution had to come quickly and it came in the form of the Mark IX: a Merlin with a two-stage two-speed supercharger was built into the proven airframe of the fifth line and the machine at once climbed and fought even at altitudes where its predecessor could not keep up. The letter in the designation IXc refers to the universal wing, which made it possible to mix cannon and machine-gun armament according to the needs of a unit. Until then the German opponent climbed faster and rolled better, and the reports of British pilots from that period did not spare their misgivings.
The manufacturer carries this set as a newer treatment of the same subject. Against the older release the drawing of the instruments and the extent of the covered surface have changed; the manufacturer meanwhile keeps both alongside each other, because each suits a different stage of finishing a cabin. Each of them covers a different amount of surface, so the smaller one stays the choice for a quick build.
The side panels of the fuselage tend to be the largest part in this set and it is precisely with them that the result is decided. Always slide them into the fuselage from one end and press gradually toward the other, otherwise an air bubble gets stuck under the film and you will no longer get it out. If one appears all the same, pierce it with the tip of a scalpel and go over the place with a wooden stick. Before that, make sure that no remains of putty or sanding dust have stayed on the plastic, because under a thin film every grain announces itself as a bump.
