The Su-27 came about as a heavy fighter for escort and for the defense of airspace. It carries two engines in separate nacelles, two vertical tail surfaces and a large blended fuselage that itself contributes to lift. The landing gear is built for a high takeoff weight and for operation from less prepared surfaces, and the main legs retract forward into the space between the air intake ducts. Over a long production history the details of the hubs and tires on machines of this family changed, which is why accessory makers distinguish an early and a late form.
First free the parts of mold release agent by washing them in lukewarm water with detergent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the contact patch, so that the wheel stands straight on the landing gear leg and the model does not lean. Only cyanoacrylate glue will manage the bond, ideally the gel version, which gives time to set the position. Spray the hub separately from the tire and handle the edge of the transition with masking tape cut into a curve. Finish with a matte varnish and a light dusting of the landing gear legs.
