The second number of the American bomber crew in 1:32 scale. It is conceived as a counterpart to number one, so the two figures form a pair, yet each serves just as well on its own. Numbered figures are sold one at a time precisely so that the modeler can put the group together to suit his own scene.
A strong subject is offered by the return from a mission: a tired crew beside the machine, the bed of a truck in the background, a bicycle propped against a landing gear leg. The second subject is waiting, with the figures sitting about on crates until the order to board comes. Both manage without a large board and make do with a cutaway of the stand. Neither the truck nor the bicycle needs to be complete; part of them at the edge of the board is often enough to give context without taking up room.
With crews it pays to divide the shades between the figures: one sheepskin lighter, the other darker, so that the pair does not merge. Turn the figures slightly toward each other and leave a visible gap between them, because a composition on a small area lives on open space. Clean the joints and any flash carefully before painting, or they will stand out under a light shade. Keep the shadows in the folds deep, because saturated kit without contrast flattens out in a photograph.
