Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a stand-alone model of the British Wolseley W4A Viper aircraft engine in 1:32 scale from Roden. It is not an aircraft model but a faithful model of the powerplant itself from the end of the First World War. The set usually holds photo-etched parts and a stand for display, thanks to which the finished engine serves as a separate showpiece.
The Wolseley Viper was a water-cooled V8 that was created in Britain as a substantially reworked license version of the Hispano-Suiza engine. It gave about 200 horsepower and from the end of 1917 it powered the excellent S.E.5a fighter, to which it gave the reliable performance with which the type quickly gained the upper hand over its opponents at the front. Sturdy and reliable, the Viper was one of the mainstays of the British fighter force at the end of the war.
Cut out and clean up the small parts carefully, glue them with liquid cement for plastic and fix the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the engine block in metal shades and distinguish the materials (steel, brass, aluminum), and bring out the joints and recesses with a dark wash. Pick out the edges of the valve gear and the cooling jackets with dry-brushing; fine traces of oil give the engine a realistic look on the stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
