The set from Mettalic Details offers faithfully rendered exhaust stacks in 1:32 scale for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-9 fighter. The parts are made of resin by high-resolution 3D printing technology. This is not a kit of an airplane, but a separate detail accessory that replaces the simplified plastic exhausts.
The Yakovlev Yak-9 was one of the most widespread Soviet fighters of the Second World War, powered by a liquid-cooled V engine. The exhaust stacks belong among the prominent elements of the front part of the fuselage. The resin replacement brings hollow mouths of the stacks and fine relief, which is hard to achieve with injection-molded plastic, so the finished model comes across more realistically.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and the remains of print supports and sand the surfaces with protection of the airways. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The exhausts usually stand out with a combination of metallic and rusty brown shades, and the heat discoloration can be suggested with fine filters or pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
