The set from the maker MH models is an accessory to a plastic kit, not an aircraft model. It is a Smokewinder 9000 type smoke pod, of the kind carried by the machines of aerial display teams. A resin casting captures the slender shape of the pod more crisply than injection-molded plastic could, and it suits models you are building in a display or air show finish.
Display flying cannot do without a visible trail that shows the audience both the flight path and the shape of a maneuver. Smoke pods are therefore hung under the wing or on the wingtip pylons and release a dense white trail in flight. In shape they tend to be adapted so that they can be carried on ordinary armament mountings, which keeps the aircraft's silhouette clean during a display. On a model it is a discreet but instantly readable sign that this is a display team machine and not a combat configuration.
First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the mating surface with sandpaper on a flat support so that the pod does not sit crooked on the pylon. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply primer before painting; smooth shapes of this kind then polish up more easily into the gloss finish that goes with display team aircraft. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
