Star Decals in 1:35 scale for British hardware in Burma: the Sherman Mk V, the Sherman Mk V AOP, the M3 Lee and the M7 Priest. An accessory to a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from Star Decals devoted to the Burma theater. The name gives four types: the Sherman Mk V, its version designated AOP, the M3 Lee and the M7 Priest self-propelled howitzer. The set holds markings for 1:35 scale and it is an accessory to a model the builder obtains separately.
Burma was a theater of its own, where different rules applied from those in Europe. Supply went over mountains and through jungle, so hardware that had seen out its days elsewhere stayed in the front line considerably longer. That is exactly the case of the M3 Lee medium tank with its gun in the right-hand sponson: in North Africa it was quickly replaced, but in Burma it served right to the close of the fighting. Beside it the Sherman Mk V served, which was the British designation for one of the production versions of the Sherman, and for artillery support the M7 Priest howitzer on a chassis derived from the same family.
Hardware in Burma was exposed to the monsoon as well as to sun-fading and green shades on it grayed quickly. Apply the markings therefore onto a full-strength surface and only then even the whole model out with a light filter, so that the decals fade along with the paint. This procedure holds most faithfully to the look of a vehicle after months in the field.
