The sheet 1:72 RMASG Centaurs brings the markings of the Royal Marines support tanks in Normandy.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet from Star Decals steps outside the German theme and is devoted to the British side. According to the name it holds markings for the Centaur tanks of the Royal Marines support group in Normandy. It is an addition for finishing a built model in 1:72 scale, not a kit.
The armored support group of the marines received Centaur tanks armed with a 95mm howitzer. Their task was not fighting enemy tanks but destroying fortified positions on the coast. The vehicles therefore opened fire from the landing craft while still approaching the beach and, once ashore, went on supporting the infantry in the depth of the bridgehead. Besides naval insignia, the vehicles carried names and battery numbers, because organizationally they came close to artillery. The combination of the British finish and unusual markings makes the Centaur a rewarding subject.
The names of the vehicles are, in this scale, narrow strips of lettering that break easily. Cut them out with a border and transfer them onto the model together with their paper, so that they do not curl. The base must be glossy and smooth, otherwise matte graininess will show under the thin film. Once dry, varnish the decals over and only then add the sand and salt effects typical of a coast.
