The second part of the Western Front series from Star Decals concentrates in 1:72 scale purely on the heavy Tiger II tanks and on two companies of the unit recorded in the name as s.SS.Pz-Abt. 101. The content is markings for a model already built and painted.
While the opening set of the series combines older as well as newer heavy tanks with the first company, this part stays with the second and third companies and with a single type. Anyone building several machines of the same battalion side by side gains markings for the whole group of vehicles by it, without the designs overlapping. Take the information about the unit as reference for reconstructing the historical look of the hardware.
The turret of the Tiger II has extensive flat sides, on which every deviation from the vertical is visible. Measure the position of a number against a weld or a hatch, therefore, and help yourself with a soft pencil on the dried varnish. Lay the membrane onto a film of water and only then move it; a dry surface catches a decal and you will not shift it any more. Soak the excess water up from the edge with a paper tissue, not by wiping across the area. Check the symmetry of the two sides of the turret at the end by looking from above.
