A kit of the de Havilland Canada Beaver AL.1 in 1:144 from Miniwing in the inventory of the British Army Air Corps.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British chapter of the four-part line in which Miniwing covered the Canadian working aircraft in a small scale. The item refers to the British designation AL.1 and to the Army Air Corps, which operated the type as a liaison and transport means.
The British brought the Beaver into service because they needed a machine able to operate from grass and improvised surfaces close to the ground units. In the British system the AL.1 designation is tied to the role of an army liaison aircraft, that is to flights between headquarters, moves of personnel, the delivery of urgent material and observation tasks. The aircraft could take on this work thanks to its large wing with pronounced high-lift devices and a tough landing gear that stood landings on uneven terrain. In British markings the machines appeared on exercises at home and when serving outside Europe.
British army finishes tend to be dark and low in contrast, so a model easily blends into a single area. It helps to shade the individual panels a shade lighter and to bring out the edges before the matte varnish goes on. The cockpit glass is very small in this scale; the frames are most easily suggested with a thin strip of decal or a fine brush rested against an edge. Add the antennas and steps right at the end, otherwise you will break them off while handling the model.
The contents are kit material; a finished aircraft comes out of it only after gluing and spraying.
