1:35 Lying cow

A lying cow in 1:35 scale

A figure of a lying cow for a diorama and display cases in 1:35 scale. Farm animals can give a scene action and calm at the same time: a lying head comes across as relaxed and gives away at once that nothing is happening in the pasture. It is exactly this contrast that suits scenes where hardware is driving past or a column is marching by.

Where it fits

In a pasture with a fence, in a farmyard, by a field copse along a field track or in a village scene anywhere in Europe. A lying animal is easy to place by a tree, by a wall or in the shade of a vehicle, where it does not cover the main motif of the scene and yet makes it lived in. Beside standing animal figures a more varied and natural group arises.

Painting tips

• Wash the figure and degrease it before painting, so that the paint holds.
• Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off.
• Spray the coat with the base shade, then add a dark glaze into the folds and bring the edges out with a dry brush.
• Paint the patches with a thin brush and soft transitions; a crisp boundary looks unnatural.
• Leave the belly and the underside lighter and add a little dust in the color of the terrain where the body rests on the ground.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and display cases in 1:35 scale who want to bring a scene to life with farm animals.

The package contains only the figure stated. The base, terrain, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
