A figure of a Belgian infantryman of the Chasseurs Ardennais with a light machine gun, 1:35 scale, the subject of the year 1940.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Chasseurs Ardennais were Belgian light infantry raised to defend the wooded and hilly south of the country. The soldiers were picked from local men, because it was reckoned they would fight in country they knew. You can tell the unit by the green beret with the boar's head badge. In 1940 it stood in the way of the German advance through the Ardennes and its name is permanently tied to that year.
The figure is shown with a light machine gun, that is as the member of a squad around whom its firepower revolves. A light machine gun of the period had a wooden stock and a bipod folding under the barrel, so even in 1:35 scale it is told apart from a rifle at first glance. Further figures on the same subject are separate items, so a whole squad can be put together.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder so that the folds of the cloth are preserved. Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. The uniform of the period can take muted earth shades, the leather straps are set apart from it by a warmer brown tone and the metal of the weapon by a dark steel color with a gentle lightening on the edges. A dark wash into the folds and under the equipment will do more for a figure than anything else.
For builders of dioramas from the beginning of the Second World War and for modelers who want a figure with a story of its own beside their vehicles. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
