Copper State Models of Riga in Latvia takes up less usual chapters of the First World War in 1:35 scale as well. This set offers a pair of horses tied in subject to the Fahrpanzer mobile armored turret. A horse is an absolutely essential element in a diorama of this period, because animal power still handled the moving of most heavy loads at the front and in the rear, and yet it appears only in a limited way among modeling products.
The Fahrpanzer was a small armored turret with a light quick-firing gun, developed in Germany at the end of the nineteenth century by the Gruson works. It was intended to strengthen fortified positions and its advantage was mobility. The turret could be moved along a narrow-gauge railway or on a wheeled chassis drawn by a horse team. In this form the equipment was still worked with during the First World War, when armored turrets appeared in the fortified sectors of the fronts.
A horse team gives a scene scale, a direction of movement and tells at once what period it is. It pays off to count on a longer base, because a team in harness with a drawn load needs room, and on the harness and a teamster, so that the arrangement is logically complete. For matching the colors it suits to watch the coat and the harness as a whole, because it is precisely on those that a viewer judges the quality of the whole composition.
