Responsibility details are not available.
A set of the FGM-148 Javelin weapon system in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer AFV Club. It has to be stressed that this is not a vehicle model or a standalone kit of military equipment, but an accessory intended for dioramas, for figures and for fitting models out. The abbreviation AAWS-M denotes the development program Advanced Anti-tank Weapon System-Medium, out of which the Javelin came.
The FGM-148 Javelin is a portable anti-tank missile system operated by one or two soldiers. It consists of a launch tube with the missile and of a reusable sighting and control unit with thermal imaging. The missile is guided and after launch it needs no further action from the crew. In modeling practice the system turns up above all in scenes with present-day infantry, where it makes a distinctive piece of gear.
Nip the parts off the fret rather with cutters and clean the gate remnant up with a scalpel. With small parts it pays to work over a tray, because a lost part tends to be irreplaceable. Sand the parting seams on the tube down, otherwise they will stand out under the varnish. Apply a primer and paint thinly, so that the fine engraving is not flooded. To bring the detail out, use a dark wash and dry-brush the edges; keep the wear restrained, as gear of this kind tends to be looked after. Before gluing, try the set dry in the hand or on the shoulder of the figure you want to combine it with.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Figures, the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
